Why smaller diameter clutch:
The important reason is to reduce the clutch assembly  moment of inertia (MOI).Lowering the MOI provide several benefits such as :
– Quicker acceleration out of each corner of the track
– Quicker engine deceleration when throttle is lifted that improved braking at corner entry allowing more  rear brake bias
– Quicker shifting because the transmission synchronizer easily match the speed of the transmission gear during shifting. Reduce wear of transmission.
– Reducing Moment of inertia (MOI) has the same effect as adding power to the engine enabling it to accelerate more quickly.
