FAULT FINDING AND TROUBLE SHOOTING

Problem – Diaphragm spring tip excessive and premature wear
Symptom of failing clutch – Clutch slipping / clutch juddering / difficulty in engagement and disengagement.
Cause – Clutch release bearing riding on the clutch diaphgram
Cause – Not enough free travel between the bearing and the clutch diaphgram spring.
Cause – Driver resting foot on the clutch pedal
Cause – Clutch slave cylinder pump wornout and not returning to original position.
Cause – Hydraulic release system defective

Solution – Adjust free travel in clutch system
Solution – Driver education
Solution – Change defective clutch slave cylinder pump
Solution – Check wornout quill shaft
